Sandy Tolan has reported on land, water, identity and conflict from more than 35 countries. He is the author of two books, including The Lemon Tree (www.sandytolan.com/the-lemon-tree), a finalist for a 2006 National Book Critics Circle award. Tolan has written for dozens of newspapers and magazines, and produced hundreds of reports and documentaries for NPR. His work has been recognized with more two dozen national and international awards. He is co-founder of Homelands Productions (www.homelands.org), and senior producer for WORKING, an international series of worker profiles for Marketplace. Tolan is associate professor of Journalism at the Annenberg School at USC, where he is currently overseeing a new course, "Hunger in the Golden State," part of a larger public radio and web series, "The Hunger Chronicles."
