Avishay Artsy is the producer and director of Word of Mouth, a daily show on New Hampshire Public Radio that covers science, technology and the arts. He is also a freelance print and broadcast reporter.
After graduating from Boston University with a degree in political communications, Artsy was an editor at TomPaine.com and learned the craft of radio at WPFW in Washington, DC. He went on to report and produce news for Paris Live Radio, New Hampshire Public Radio and NET Radio in Nebraska. He also served as the online news editor for the Omaha World-Herald, and was an editorial contributor for The Reader, Omaha’s alt-weekly paper.
Artsy has produced dozens of segments on science and technology, including industrial ecology, personal genomics, synthetic biology, open-source hardware, carbon trading, bionic limbs, neuro-enhancing drugs, green technology, space tourism, augmented reality and the carbon footprint of our pets.
His freelance pieces have aired on Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Marketplace, Weekend America and Only a Game, among other shows. He is also an accomplished bread baker and is NRA-certified in basic pistol marksmanship.
