Glen Branch: Creationism is making news, but it's not simply the Scopes trial all over again. Creationists differ in their views (from "creation science" to "intelligent design"), the sophistication of their tactics, arguments, and rhetoric, and their goals; various incidents of challenges to evolution education vary in their scope (from individual classrooms to entire states), seriousness, and subtlety. With an eye toward aiding you in covering such episodes responsibly, this informal presentation will review the range of creationist views and the different sorts of tactics and arguments creationists commonly employ, and will summarize recent episodes in which creationists have sought to compromise evolution education.
