Stephanie Hemphill

Stephanie began working in radio in the late 70s when she helped senior citizens produce weekly half-hour programs that aired on Duluth community station, KUMD-FM. She spent several years in fundraising and development, and then took over as public affairs director in 1985. Stephanie conducted live interviews during the morning drive program, hosted a weekly call-in program, supervised reporters and hosts, and produced a few national programs along the way. She has occasionally taught classes as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Minnesota in Duluth.

In 2000 Stephanie began working for Minnesota Public Radio as a reporter/producer. She currently produces feature and spot news reports—and occasionally longer-form stories—for MPR's broadcast of Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Several features have made it to National Public Radio and the Great Lakes Radio Consortium.
