Rosemary Pennington is a jack of all “beats” at WBHM-FM in Birmingham, Alabama. A closet science junkie, she spends much of her time trying to squeeze occasional science stories in amongst all the reporting she does on politics, social issues and the arts. Before waking up and finding herself in the Deep South, Rosemary worked at WOUB-FM in Athens, Ohio. As managing editor she “managed” to edit the work of far too many students in far too little time.

If asked about her happiest moment as a reporter, Rosemary will tell you about her visit to the Birmingham Zoo’s senior silverback gorilla. While recording said gorilla during a training session he became upset with her shotgun mic and began to growl. Needless to say Rosemary was very thankful for the heavy cage door between her and the 300-pound silverback. She did get the growl on tape.
