Dr. Joel Best will explore a variety of cases that illustrate different aspects of how people use (and misuse) statistics in arguing about social problems. This often involves presenting more—or less—scientific information. His underlying message: statistics are not little nuggets of truth, but rather products of people’s activities, and it is very important to keep this in mind: to approach them with critical thinking.
