Anita Barry

Dr. Anita Barry has been the director of communicable disease control at the Boston Public Health Commission (and its predecessor organization, the Department of Health and Hospitals) since 1984.

The Boston Public Health Commission is the local health authority for Boston, and its CDC Division is responsible for surveillance and control of infectious diseases dangerous to the public’s health within the city. Dr. Barry received a BS (magna cum laude) from Georgetown University, an MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and an MPH from Boston University. She is a board-certified internist and infectious disease specialist.
