Ashley Gross reports for the Alaska Public Radio Network's weekend features show, AK, which won best news and public affairs program for 2005 from Public Radio News Directors Incorporated. She also reports and fills in as host for the daily news program Alaska News Nightly. Since arriving in Alaska in spring 2004, she has covered everything from the effects of melting glaciers on salmon fry to the possible environmental consequences of a proposed open-pit gold mine. Gross loves the Alaskan outdoors, but sometimes misses the green chili of Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she grew up.
