Allan Coukell is a former clinical pharmacist, now working as a health and science journalist. He has been a reporter, producer and host at WBUR in Boston. He established Radio New Zealand's weekly Eureka science program in 1999. His freelance work has appeared in the New York Times, The Economist, New Scientist and the Boston Globe, and on the BBC World Service, Radio Netherlands International, NPR, Marketplace and The World. Awards include a Third Coast International Audio Festival prize for the radio documentary Grey Ghost. He lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and recently became a father.
