Sarah McCammon is a reporter/producer for NET Radio, the NPR station covering most of Nebraska. She juggles a mix of general assignment and beat reporting, focusing especially on agriculture, the environment, health, research and education. She enjoys exploring how agriculture affects the environment, in terms of water and air quality, land and water use, and quality of life.
McCammon is the winner of two national reporting awards from the Society of Environmental Journalists. A former newspaper reporter, her work has been published in the Kansas City Star and Chicago Sun-Times, and broadcast on several NPR programs.
Among her proudest moments was wading in the chilly Missouri River in November 2006 for a story on endangered mussels, wearing a winter coat and knee-high rubber boots, and carrying around recording equipment and a camera… not to mention her 7-months-pregnant baby belly!
