Ashley Ahearn has been a producer and reporter with Living on Earth for the past three years. She is now working on developing a daily science and environmental news podcast for Living on Earth, geared toward public radio’s diverse next generation of listeners.
Ahearn came to Living on Earth after interning for National Geographic/Radio Expeditions at NPR in Washington. She did her undergraduate degree at Georgetown University and has studied and lived in Japan, France and Scotland. Her radio experience includes assistant producing at PRI's The World, and interning at WBUR in Boston and Transitions Online in the Czech Republic. She got her start in radio by logging tape and doing research for Sandy Tolan of Homelands Productions when she was 15.
In her spare time she likes to be outside, especially backpacking, snowshoeing and camping. She says backpacks produce perfectly smooshed PB&J sandwiches.
