Physics for Future (and Current) Presidents

April 20, 2009 - 1:30pm

Richard Muller

We live in a high tech world in which many key decisions depend on technical knowledge. Climate change, energy security, space, military decisions, and even counter-terrorism, all have technological components that must be understood in order to make wise and proportionate decisions. We expect our leaders to know the difference between Shiite and Sunni -- and we should expect them to know the difference between a uranium fission bomb and a dirty weapon. We will discuss the physics, science, engineering and technology that our world leaders need to understand.
